Keep the Street lights on in Carbis Bay and Lelant

Cornwall Council’s decision to turn off streetlights in Carbis Bay and Lelant between midnight and 5am has left many residents feeling unsafe and vulnerable.

Cllr Luke Rogers said, “For many, the streetlight switch-off feels like an imposed curfew, restricting our freedoms and making our streets less welcoming. Residents shouldn’t have to fear for their safety when walking home after working late or enjoying an evening out.

A sustainable future does not have to come at the cost of security. I am campaigning for a balanced approach that ensures energy efficiency while keeping our streets well-lit and safe for everyone. I am campaigning for this harmful policy to be reversed.”
